We've made it to Atlanta!

We just arrived in the Atlanta airport at 6:00 local time (feels like 3:00AM). We have discovered that it is next to impossible to sleep comfortably, or uncomfortably, in an airplane. Joseph watched two movies, and I tried to sleep between intervals of watching the map and flight information (since I couldn't reach my headset for movie watching). Too bad I couldn't watch a movie. I would have had a much better chance of falling asleep :-) ) We were glad that the three young men who smelled and sounded like they had been drinking were not sitting near us.
The view we could see from our seats was really beautiful as we left Portland. The lights all over town looked like jewels against the dark.

The walk to our departing gate was long but welcome after sitting in the plane for 4 and a half hours. This is a huge airport. It even has a subway/train you can hop on here and there to get yourself to the right concourse.

Our bodies think it is 4 o'clock now, but the adjustment to the new time is helped by the sunshine outside. We have breakfasted on leftover-from-family-camp trail mix and Starbucks Vivannos, and are now killing time until our flight to Charlottesville, which still doesn't leave for a couple hours.
